FIFA World Cup Kick-off Celebration Concert

It is the ultimate event that every 4 years has the whole population forget whatever they are thinking and doing at the moment.

Last night the celebration kicked off for the 2010 Fifa World Cup. From the 30,000-capacity Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, it was a night not to be missed South African style. Freedom Fighter, Global Peace Keeper, Archbishop Desmond Tutu embraced the crowd, proudly stating, “We welcome you all. For Africa is the cradle of humanity, so we welcome you home.”

Many musicians took the stage throughout the night including Alicia Keys, Shakira, African musicians, including Amadou & Mariam and the Soweto Gospel Choir, The Black Eye Peas, John Legend alongside many others.

And of course South Africa would not be the same if Nelson Mandela’s presence had gone unnoticed.

So enough chit chat and to everyone involved and supporting the Fifa World Cup 2010, I say Let’s bring this one home!!
